About The Job
Spectro Cloud is seeking a Director of Sales Engineering to lead our Public Sector and Channel Sales Engineering team. This leader will manage a team of Solutions Architects who support both partner accounts and public sector customers.
This leader will be responsible for driving technical excellence, setting team priorities, and aligning field engineering strategy with business goals. They will act as both a coach and leader, developing the skills, consistency, and impact of their team.
The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of Kubernetes, a proven track record in technical sales leadership, and experience with both partner enablement and public sector sales motions.
The Team
You will serve as a trusted advisor and leader to your team, partners, and customers during complex engagements. Your input will influence not only sales outcomes but also product direction, partner strategies, and repeatable solution patterns across the organization. Field Engineering plays a key role in educating customers and partners, while also providing feedback to improve our products and go-to-market execution.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of Solutions Architects focused on partner and public sector accounts.
- Define and drive field engineering strategy for the PubSec and Channel business.
- Actively participate in key customer and partner engagements, supporting deal strategy and execution.
- Build scalable enablement programs for partners and public sector sales motions.
- Partner with Sales, Product, and Marketing teams to ensure alignment and consistent go-to-market messaging.
- Ensure technical excellence in customer-facing engagements, including PoVs, demos, workshops, and partner training.
- Represent Spectro Cloud at industry events, conferences, and with key stakeholders as a thought leader.
- Provide structured coaching and career development to team members.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in Sales Engineering or Solutions Architecture, with at least 3+ years in a leadership role managing teams.
- Strong technical expertise in Kubernetes (CKA preferred) and cloud-native technologies (certifications a plus).
- Familiarity with CI/CD tooling (Terraform, Git, Helm, YAML), SSO, and role-based access controls.
- Deep experience with public clouds (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Proven track record of supporting complex enterprise and/or public sector sales.
- Experience in partner sales motions and building scalable enablement programs.
- Familiarity with public sector procurement cycles, compliance standards (e.g., FedRAMP, DoD STIGs), and buying processes.
- Deep understanding of MEDDPICC or similar sales qualification frameworks.
- Exceptional leadership and coaching skills, with a hands-on approach in the field.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills for both technical and executive audiences.
- Expected travel: approximately 30–40%.
