About the Job
The Spectro Cloud Documentation & Education team is looking for an Education Engineer to join our experienced team of technical writers and education engineers. We are looking for someone with a strong technical background to contribute to our documentation and provide the best user experience with Palette, our Kubernetes management platform.
As an Education Engineer, you will create world-class tutorials, guides, and reference material for our practitioners and customers to gain experience with our products, but more importantly, to help them achieve a deeper understanding. The tutorials will contain hands-on labs that allow the reader to complete the tutorial at their own pace while gaining product knowledge. We aim to deliver quality learning experiences, so we expect the tutorial lab portion to simulate real-world application architecture incorporating our products. You will leverage modern software engineering tools like Kubernetes, Terraform, containers, cloud providers, programming languages, and more. We believe in team and individual ownership, so you will work alongside other team members to build expertise in a product area.
The Team
The Documentation & Education team works closely with the Product, Engineering, and Support teams to ensure that we provide accurate and complete feature documentation that serves our customers' real needs. Education Engineers leverage their extensive technical skills to educate prospective customers by creating step-by-step tutorials, writing Terraform code to support IaC workflows, and updating existing documentation to reflect our customers' workflows.
Location: This is a full-time, remote-first position open to Canada and Europe.
Job Responsibilities
- Create clear, in-depth tutorials and how-to guides that teach users how to effectively use product features, based on real-world scenarios and customer use cases.
- Conduct hands-on testing and independent research to gain deep product knowledge and uncover edge cases, ensuring technical accuracy in documentation.
- Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and developers to gather information, clarify complex functionality, and stay informed of upcoming changes.
- Design and maintain reusable demo environments that showcase product capabilities and support technical documentation.
- Contribute to and maintain the Docs site infrastructure, including automation scripts, CI/CD pipelines, formatting tools, and publishing workflows.
- Write technical blog posts and long-form content contributing to Spectro Cloud’s thought leadership.
- Improve and refactor existing documentation to reflect product updates, enhance clarity, ensure consistency, and align with style and branding guidelines.
- Use feedback, analytics, and peer reviews to iterate on content quality, identify knowledge gaps, and improve the reader experience.
- Champion user-first documentation practices, contributing to content standards, style guides, and accessible information design across all channels.

The Hiring Process
Your time is valuable, so we want to ensure we respect your time and the effort you put into the hiring process. The interview process is divided into four sections: a screening interview, a technical interview, a writing and information architecture discussion, and a culture and team fit interview.
- Screening Interview - this is a 30-minute interview where we verify if we are a good fit for each other. We’ll be asking questions to learn more about your career experience and your technical educator skills.
- Technical Interview - a 60-minute interview where we verify your technical teaching capability, writing skills, and technical knowledge. We use a writing assignment to validate your teaching and writing capabilities. The writing assignment is not a pass or fail but instead utilized as an indicator to help us understand your current abilities.
- Culture/Team Interview - this is another 45-minute interview. The questions here focus on your experience working in a team setting. Other questions check for organizational core values and culture fit.
- Q&A with Product - this is a 30-minute information chat with one of our PMs. This stage is an excellent opportunity to ask questions about the team, the product and Spectro Cloud as a whole.
